When it comes to the Witcher 3 combat I HAVE TO recommend W3 Enhanced Edition mod. It drastically changes skill system, meaning builds do matter, combat animations were tweaked to be more similar to soulslike style. A lot of changes, in fact, were made to make a souls game from Witcher 3, imo. Playing a game with this mod is an entire different experience. I think everyone should try some gameplay overhaul mod because in this aspect The witcher 3 does not shine.

New to the channel. I would recommend VR if you haven't tried it. I was in the same boat as yountil. I played Resident Evil 7 in VR. I genuinely had to take a break from how jarring the experience was. I don't remember having to do that since I was a child. It definitely steps up the horror experience. And if you can conquer that i'm sure there are plenty of Ocean simulators that might be on your list of fears/games to Conquer down the line

CDPR is a corporation yes but they did with the original Witcher trilogy what I think should be the standard of all Triple A games. Let the people who only care about the artistic endeavour and their creativity and passion do what they do best and stay out of their way completely. It's been interesting to see how divided we the Witcher community is on what approach CDPR should have chosen for the new Witcher trilogy. Some desperately want Ciri and others dread it because they say she is too powerful to make combat challenging, others want custom character creation and others hate the idea because they say (as you said in the video and what we all agree to be true) is that CDPR's greatest strength is character writing (they are the best at it in the video game industry their character writing is on par with the best books TV shows and movies out there) and of course they have written absolutely incredible stories but I think they are even better at character writing cause story writing and character writing is not the same of course (for example I thought the Horizon Zero Dawn story was actually pretty a interesting idea but the character writing was kinda bland and dull and pretty generic) and people are afraid if CDPR goes the custom character route for the new Witcher trilogy will detract from that strength (V in Cyberpunk 2077 is a one off character that will probably not be the main character in project Orion the sequel, while this is planned to be a trilogy telling a unified complete story and if it has custom character creation that might limit what CDPR can do in terms of character writing for that new custom main character). Some people even wanted a trilogy telling the story of young Vesemir but I highly doubt that is what they are doing although it would be a good idea for a standalone project single game project they could work on or even give to Fool's Theory when they are done with the remake (I have alot of confidence in their team they have incredibly talented people that worked on Witcher 2 and 3 and guys and gals from Larian that worked Baldur's Gate 3 so yeah alot of talented people altough I have a sneaking suspicion you would want them to work on a Witcher 2 remake instead lol). Also I agree that I want to see other places in the world of the Witcher I got a taste of Ofier in Hearts of Stone as a middle Eastern and a Jewish man I LOVED seeing all the various middle eastern and Judaic influences (not just monotheism I might add but the whole idea of ascribing power to letters and words and the mention of Gematria since the language of Hebrew itself is considered holy this idea is a part of Judaism) I recognised on the culture they created for the Ofieris (although I myself am an agnostic atheist but culturally ethnically Jewish) they really did their research and it was wonderful for me to see, but of course it was not just that the whole culture they created for them was so fascinating even though we learn so little it leaves you wanting to know and learn so much more. Of course there is also their outfits shields weapons etc. In the end I think we will just have to wait and see what CDPR has been cooking and then experience it and see if we like it or not. Also as a sidenote Philip Weber of CDPR said the underwater Skellige question marks were a huge mistake and that they will never do it again lmao. Great video btw!

I heard this from an FC mate, but apparently Edda has been in game since the O.G. FF14. Apparently there was a female NPC in a village that if you talk to her is learning magic, but it's hinted that she is dabbling in the "darker" aspect of it. If this npc was in fact Edda, that would mean she had some knowledge of necromancy and picked it back up upon Avere's death.

I think it's absolutely ridiculous when people complain that the game doesn't railroad them into finishing the main quest and allows them to do side quests with less meaning than the main quest. If you want to go straight through and just do the main quest, you can do that! You don't have to do side quests if you don't want to. Some of us like doing the side quests. Stop whining.

Hi Jinzee; I like to play my games in 3rd person as you well know; I am playing Skyrim Anniversary Edition with 200 plus mods, and it feels and looks fantastic. A 2011 game that plays "almost" like a 5th Gen. Now modders have "bunch" of Combat mods to cover all your dynamic needs; one player claims to have 1400 plus mods installed, and so far, they all work in proper harmony. I know that Skyrim V is the game that never ends, but maybe you could give a look now; it could in fact "scratch" your dynamic combat ich. Now you can combine different Combat Mods to get the results that you are looking. I'm glad to see you back "at work" again, TC. 👀

That was a lot of work, so thank you, PB! I think Moorcock was never big on overly wrought exposition and world-building. Tolkien got into the weeds with minutiae in Moorcock's opinion. You can see it in the lack of detailed world-building in the multiverse.

my biggest problem with act 3 other than the obvious unfinished narratives and cut content is the fact that the missed a major opportunity to create an epic dungeon crawl in the underwater Iron Throne. Why bring back an iconic location from the 1st game just to turn it into a lame timed escort mission with lower level enemies? They really dumbed down a lot of the fights compared to divinity original sin 2

So basically, you want the next game to be nothing like the previous ones, got it (I agree with most of the points you make in the video).

The fact that the Krogan party members are almost always the best characters is almost a Mass Effect feature. Wrex, Grunt and Drack are the best party members of their respective games. Garrus is ok too. The Asari and humans are almost always boring.

I love act 3 but I totally agree with you I wish they did more with Orin and Gortash they have such great backstories I just wish they put that in more and you didn't have to scavenge for little bits and pieces of it everywhere. Kethrics story was amazing I just wish Larian gave Orin and Gortash the same love because I think they are both amazing characters but they are lacking. I also wish that you got more dialogue with all 3 as the dark urge. Kethric doesn't even sound like he knows us and only Orin, Gortash, and Helsik do which is sad. I was expecting a little more "respect" in some areas of the game where I though people would've know the dark urge only to be met with the same dialogue as a normal tav.

It depends solely on the player. I prefer Tris, fun & bubbly 💝 Yen is bossy, her way or the highway type alpha female. I have never chosen her & never will. Sharing information is kept from you, she does only what she wants regardless of who she destroys. Even if I chose no one, I end up with Ciri at the end. However, I sometimes wish Shani was an option as well a few more 😂. I know what the books states, however, the game is not the books. We play the game as we want & are left with the outcome. 💞 Using the books and information to play the game is silly 🤣 The games stand on what is given & presented. But the choices are solely ours. There’s no right or wrong 💝

I see a lot of Nick-Picking for games that are old or half your age 😂 The Witcher games are amazing for when they were released & I still love them today. But Complaining about your feelings in a game is so funny 😆 The books are great, but have nothing to do with how the games were produced. I read the books once, but played the games so many times I lost count. 💝

i personally enjoyed the political part of act 3, like siding with gortash to avoid the steel watchers and target orin first, and i enjoy doing the random side quests and just figuring out more about the game. plus act 3 is when you can finally tie up all your companion’s stories (i love the companions). also i think orin is much more relevant in a durge play through but i totally agree act 1 and 2 are so much more cohesive and developed, i think larian actually rushed act 3 sadly. can only imagine how much cleaner it would’ve been

To be fair, the upper city would be FAR more visually interesting? Nobility and temples. So rather than the endless boring houses, youd have a smaller number of really cool and different buildings with history. They should have cut the size of the lower city in half, then done the upper city.

As someone who plays a lot of hack slashers and programs some small games here and there, I would say the problem with Witcher 3 combat is not that realistic, its that it is slow, rigid and awkward at times. I don't think making the game a fps would make things better, because fps hack slashers tend to be a mess because melee and fps don't mix together as well as third person. I don't think making Witcher 4 combat system just like dark souls is a good enough solution either. The other problem of the Witcher 3 the is combat design for enemy NPC. Most of the enemies are too simply, they just follow the player then attack when in a certain range. The next problem as mention by proper bird is the stat based leveling. What I would do is make combat/movement much smoother. Rather than making the Witcher stuck at a walking speed during combat, I would make that you move at speed between walk and run. But you can run during combat and will not eat your energy but it will leave the Witcher some what vulnerable to an attack. The Witcher character should have more combos then just the basic three hits, hard and fast attack. The player should being to stab and grab the enemy or even disarm the enemy. Certain combos end with a powerful sign being cast in a cinematic way. I would redesign how the sign system works. I would make that quen works like a block, aard is a push back good for spacing, igni is good at damaging the ops but leaves you valunerable. Axii would still work more or less the same. Yeden usefulness is scenario based. I would combine its functionality in the withcer 3 and 2 together. I would make that you have manner bar for signs and stamina bar for special attack actions. I would make that the crossbolt is like a gun that does a lot damage to human without armor and certain monsters. Works well at far/mid range but is shit at close. But crossbolt doesn't have infinite ammo, so the player has to buy bolts or find them. Swords are the best weapons at close range. I would make that potions and oils have more dynamic role in combat rather than just being stat base boost. Bombs must have more of boom to them. Super effective against all human enemies, and somewhat monsters. Again ammo very limited and you have buy bombs or find them. Finally the enemy NPC. I would try to stick the book description of the monsters. Certain monsters are fast agile light hitters, slow hard hitters or in-between those extremes. The enemy npc will challenge the player in a meanaful way rather then just being punching bags. The some big monsters can grab the witcher and throw him like a bag of potatoes. I would remove all stat base boosts and rather have an emphasize on enemy knowledge and player skill. Monsters are a lot tougher than human enemies. Human enemies are generally weak, but they make up for this in terms of numbers and smarter strategies then monsters who just attack the witcher like idiots with brute force. It is important that personalities of each enemy is reflected in their attack behaviors.
